My son built a machine - msi - k7n2 delta / amd 2800 / wd 120 gig / lite-on dvd+/- / ati9600 pro
machine boots up and runs fine BUT if you knock against the case (even gently) it reboots -
any ideas where to begin troubleshoot welcome

an update - we did a clean install of XP on the slave HD and booted from there - all works perfectly - tried to boot from the primary drive containing to upgraded from win2k to XP and still get a blue screen
lost in blue - please - any ideas?
I am back with yet another blue screen of death - I just finish an upgrade from win2k prof to XP prof - everything appeared to install fine except on the first try it couldn't find iexporer and another file on the CD - I moved the CD to my other drive and it found the files and loaded them fine...
eureka! thanx all - i switched back to the old MB; changed the ide controller to the standard dual channel - switched back to the new MB and success! win2k loved it. of course things never end - i added a wintv2000 card; loaded the software and the machine started a continuous rebooting...
thanx to all for the suggestions - i'll try the merge reg tonite and see if that does it - i thought that the ms site said that proceudre would not work for raid boards but it is worth a try - i have used it before and been successful. if that doesn't work i'll try putting the hardware back on...

ok - i have the same problem - working on older computer for giveaway - shutdown ok when i started - will not shutdown now - will shutdown in safe mode - how do I isolate the problem??? TSR, driver, etc........ don't have virus software on machine yet.

thanx much darkknight - I sent this to my son at college - he's the gamer in the family - he likes the monitor - has been running vga - his dvi card is not due until santa shows up - one dead pixel so far showed up about two weeks in - middle of the screen - he says it doesn't bother him.

thanx - when i power on the fans spin - when i had the drives hooked up the lights came on the cr-rom. i'll try the no memory and see what happens though i thought a machine would not post without some memory

bump for help - I am having a very similar problem - power on but no booting - monitor does not show any system info - my worry is that the last electrical storm cooked my mb though I have a good protector.
