I finally got it !
It was the KVM switch I was using !
I started thinking about it last night and finally tried today connecting keyboard, monitor and mouse directly to the PC and bingo.
The strange part is that I played other games including the original Call of Duty with that setup...

By the way I have already tried turning off anything I could think of including resolution to 640 x 480.
I am using the most recent Omega driver for my video card and updated drivers for the soundblaster. XP Pro SP2 with all updates.
