I found it kind of amusing that after taking several years of higher math, once I started sinking my teeth into computational biomechanics about 99.9% of all the math I do now is +,-,*, and /
PROTECT YOUR HAND.
If you leave your hand out there in front of your chips all alone, it's very easy for another player's cards to hit yours, in which case your hand is dead. Or the dealer might accidentally scoop them up. It's customary to just put a chip on top of them.
Otherwise most...
sometimes I feel like it's been made taboo by employers. if nobody at a company knows what the person next to them is getting paid, the boss can get away with paying some people much less.
maybe i'll wait till my wife leaves town and then open it up and poke around. I don't suppose there's anything physical to see when a CCD goes bad?
Thanks a bunch for the responses!
whoah, memory? like the memory inside the scanner? if some of it went bad, could it possibly still work except for screwups like this? I only ask because when even a tiny bit of my cpu memory is bad, it causes all kinds of catastrophic failures.
here's a picture if it helps anyone's...
hmm I'm not sure-- there is a small bar that moves across the scanning field upon which I had assumed the CCDs rest, but I would imagine that it's the standard setup since it's not too expensive a scanner. So that little bar is just a lamp, and maybe a mirror/lens to redirect the reflection...
So I've got this HP PSC 1610, one of those all-in-one's. The warranty timer hit and the scanner stopped working-- what happens is that there's a big thick black vertical stripe. It's not a clean black, as it's got little green streaks across it.
So the HP support guy said I'm pretty much...
Here's a tennis related question:
Why can't I see the ball on the french open on espn 2?
I just upgraded to digital cable and have the DVR thing going, and if I pause it after a serve or a hard hit, the ball is just a faint blur. It's like the refresh rate is too low. You think that's...
that's actually a good question. Seems like the costs should be declining with computers. I mean, a TI-12314 or whatever they're on now can't be all that much more powerful than a gameboy can it?
Is there a way to find out what's being changed when these things come?
I really miss the PC-like readmes, especially since some of these updates are pretty impactful.
Nice, thanks a bunch. A lot of the teams seem to be secret societies or something. The hit-the-ball-against the wall technique got the Jewish Team in Houston recruiting me when I was back there.
I'll check out avanti.
cheers!
I've just moved to Seattle, but I think this question may be answerable on a more general level.
It seems like team tennis is where a lot of the action is at outside clubs and tournaments. Which is all fine and good, except how the heck do you find the teams? I can't find any kind of...
that reminds me of the time when i was in line at the high school cafeteria, and a chick cut in line in front of me while pretending to ask her friend in front of me about some assignment she had. i said, "hey that's a good idea" right as she asked the server, "can i have a breast please?"
