    "VHS is better than DVD?"

I have a high quality Oppo DV-981HD DVD player. Also have some cheap Sylvania Blu-Ray player I got when they first starting dropping below $100. I only have a 37" HDTV and sit about 9-10ft from it. Given the TV size and the distance to my couch I really can't tell much difference. The Oppo...

    Geforce GTX 1050 / 1050 Ti Thread

The GTX 950 never had a 4GB version. You must be thinking of the GTX 960.

[Eurogamer] GTX 1060: 3 GB vs 6 GB

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FfKtNcJ7mM Much ado about nothing. How many would keep a mid-range card for more than a couple years? Not too many most likely. Its like calling the HD 7850 1GB or GTX 650 Ti Boost 1GB "trash" when they were introduced. The biggest tripping point for this...

    update a video cards bios

https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/amd-ati-flashing-guide.212849/ The OP tells you everything you need to know about flashing an AMD card's BIOS. I did it a couple times with an HD 7950 a few years ago, but don't remember the exact tools and sequence. This is where I got the info from...

What's the oldest build you've done that's still in use?

Big sister's Facebook box is an Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (socket 939 - OC'd a bit) on a DFI LANParty nF4 SLI-DR. Has a 128 GB SSD (believe it or not it worked without a hitch), 4GB of DDR 400 and a GTX 650 Ti I was done with. Windows 7. She's happy with it.

    G3258 / GTX950 / 16GB / SSD gaming build

That'll be fine for games from about 2012/2013 on back. I've had a G3258@ 4.5 Ghz and it did fine until it hit Fallout 4. That game pretty much would kill it in areas my i5 4690k rig would just laugh at. But it was perfectly fine for WoW: Warlords of Draenor even though Blizzard states four...

first time renting a car. get rental insurance?

I know they say if you have your own auto insurance and pay with a credit card its not necessary, but I always pop for the no-fault walk-away insurance. I actually needed it with a U-Haul truck once. Cause a couple thousand damage to my apartments carport when I clipped it. It was nice just...

Wiser to "invest" in G3258 (and OC) or G4400 for budget builds?

For what you want to do it really doesn't matter. Haswell Refresh or Skylake Pentium, AMD FX or APU - they'll all serve that purpose. Go with what's cheapest.

With all the talk about Maxwell being "legacy", what about Fermi and Kepler?

Your DX11 (with DX12 support added) cards will have regular driver updates for years to come. They are not in legacy support.

So coupe vs sedan, your opinions on it...

Prefer coupes. I'm tall and like the wider doors. I also try to park well away from other cars so getting in and out isn't usually an issue.

Whomever will hurt her chances the most. Please. I would think that would be Lizzy Warren.

    i3 6100 good enough for RX 480?

You'll be fine for two or three years. Just be sure to get fast RAM like DDR4 2666. Too much FUD flying around here - the RX 480 isn't that powerful.

Geforce GTX 1060 Thread: faster than RX 480, 120W, $249

When the dust settles the RX 480 8GB and the GTX 1060 will be competing against each other much in the same way the GTX 960 4GB and R9 380 4GB have with the slight price advantage of AMD intact and the performance advantage more or less leveled. Never understood why everyone wets their pants...
