Yeah, my laptop LCD has a pretty noticeable light leak at the top and the bottom, it's only annoying when the screen is black, like when you're watching DVDs, but I can't see anything on the BenQ. I assumed light leaks only happened at the top and bottom, but maybe on a screen as large as 24"...

I have the same monitor and haven't noticed anything like that. Looking now I don't see it, the screen 'space' goes right to the edges but not beyond. Have you tried using the monitor menu controls to stretch the screen slightly and see if the border goes away?

Thanks again to xtKnight, BernardP and everyone who has contributed to this thread, it's a wonderful resource. I recently bought an LG 226WTX-BF and a BenQ FP241WZ, both of which I'm really happy with and thanks to the info here I made an informed choice about. I was pretty set on getting the...

Is the BenQ FP241WZ $800 in America? In Toronto there's a local computer supply chain that has it for $690cdn. Inversely the Dell 2407WFP-HC is currently $750 though it's been as low as $600.

I'm awaiting a 2407wfp hc but I'm also looking for an office monitor for a friend. This thread is such a goldmine of information I thought I'd come back for more :) He has two 19" CRTs at the moment and I think one 22" LCD would make a fine replacement and let us streamline our office space...

I don't know, up here in Canada it was at $649 for a few weeks, $599 for a day, but it's just jumped back up to its list price of $749. Maybe sales are disappointing but I'm sure it's doing well, 24" was never a big seller but prices are dropping across the board and 24" LCDs are becoming more...

The laptop has DVI output and I just tried an LG L226WTX out, it works fine, so I assume the 2407 will also. Fingers crossed.

Yeah, it does have a DVI port at the back. That's good to hear, time to push the button I think :)

That's an awesome price. I might take the plunge too. As always though, I have one question before I do. I have a modern desktop but I also run an Inspiron 9300 laptop. Can I run the 2407 off the laptop as well? It has 2gigs of ram and a dedicated 128meg video card, the x300 I think. I would...

I have no idea how good it is but the 24" BenQ FP241VW is supposed to be 'the ultimate gaming monitor'...

Thanks to the advice in this thread I've been looking for the Dell non-HC 2407 as well, but with no luck. Dell Canada seem to have withdrawn it in favour of just offering the HC version. I mainly use a laptop with a 1920x1200 screen and I'm reluctant to go back to a smaller screen res even if...

Thanks, I realised it can't be a TN panel after posting by looking at the viewing angles. The price has dropped to $699 right now, I might jump on that. I can't wait very long because I need something to go with my new desktop, I've only been using laptops for the past few years and this will be...

I've been watching this thread for a while now as I try to decide what LCD to buy. It's *extremely* useful, everyone should give the first post a read before buying anything! I wanted to ask if there are no 22"+ monitors that would be good for prosumer photo editing. I see there's the 21"...
