I'm using Creative Labs Inspire 4.1 4400 Set w/ a SB Audigy. I am not an audiophile, but I think they were worth every penny of the $50 I paid for em a few months ago. They are relatively low powered, but can crank out plenty of sound for my ears before they start to distort.

I have a Athlon XP 1600+ on VIA's KT266a chipset, and my system is rock-stable --- even when it was at 55-60 degrees Celcius (That temp was with retail fan and bad case cooling, now my temps are much more comfortable).
Go with a Geforce 2 GTS-V (newegg for $46, last I checked) or a 32mb TNT2 ($25 or so). The k6-2 isn't a very powerful processor, so anything above the GF2 would likely be wasted.
