^i had the same amount of ram and an OLDER HDD on my celeron tower. photoshop ran BETTER on that! but illustrator was alot more sluggish. the celeron was from 2002 if im not mistaken. 2.5ghz w/ like 256l2cache...the biggest difference is that the motherboard on the celeron tower had onboard...

Yes...this is a noob thread. Video card is old, just upgraded an old VBR MATRIX to what is in my signature below. Vid card is: NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 MODEL 64. I can run programs like ADOBE illustrator perfectly fine..no lagging whatsoever. But even the task of opening a new document in photoshop...
