Is anyone else having problems with the gearsec.exe cd burning service that itunes installs? It makes my shutdown time take about 30 seconds instead of 3. If I disable the service, the shutdown/reboot time is back to normal, but itunes bitches about gearsec being shutdown everytime I start it...

Yes, but there were several people with the 1300a claiming they weren't having problems. Whatever, doesn't matter now.

I sent my nec1300a back and I ordered a pioneer DVR-106. It'll be interesting to see how these burn on that drive. I'm 99% sure the media was at fault, but I wanted the pioneer anyway.

Just out of curiousity, would/did you scan the disc for errors with dvdinfo? The movies I burned seem to play ok in my stand alone dvd player, but I can't copy the discs back to my hd and dvdinfo shows a lot of errors after about 85% verified as ok. I'm trying to decide whether to send this...

How big was the backup? A full 4.37 gigs?

Check for read errors with dvdinfo or try to rip the burned disc back to your hd. I've had two 4x burns fail to rip off the disc when complete. Fails at 95%. Just tried the same backup at 2x and it fails to rip from the disc even sooner. Wish I would have gotten a pioneer 106.

When you went backwards from 1.08 to 1.07, did you use the windows flasher or the dos flasher?
