If you're putting together a system through one of their combos, you'd better check your total system cost.. Seems that after you add the completed system to the cart, the price switches from $599 to $659 for a X2 4400 retail... Something's not quite right at Monarch..

Sure it's a bad move, it's bad form, and I doubt many businesses will stand for purchasing a product offering from Intel that deliberately cripples its compiler(s) when it doesn't detect an Intel processor. After all who wants to buy a semi-crippled product? I doubt Intel will be found guilty...

Well like them or not for their price gouging, ZipZoomFly has limited stock on hand of AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Processors..
At $660 a pop though, can't say I'm interested, but I guess they supposedly have 5 retail boxed 4400 on hand...
It was noted on the 2nd page of Wesley Fink's article "AMD Motherboards: Processor Support" that X2 processors now were capable of DDR 433/466/500 speeds with a simple Bios update.

Support price gougers with business and they will continue the practice.. NewEgg's gotten a little too big for their own good.. I remember a time when they had competitive pricing in addition to good service. Guess at some point they decided name recognition was enough.
