I doubt vanilla Zen 5 beats the 7800X3D in games where it dominates. If it does, then certainly not in bang for buck. The prices are going to be so much higher that anyone buying the 3D will be able to huff premium smug for at least a year or 2.

It's more MC throwing heat than anything else. The Miami store will be opening this year. It's a three hour drive so I'll make a pilgrimage there next time I want to build a system. Have to support their efforts. They are growing while Best Buy continues to fade away. Says a lot about their biz model and owners vs the typical golden parachute brigade that run the national big box stores.

This is most likely a price mistake that won't lost long; lowest price they've ever had for the 7800X3D combo was $465 and that lasted one day last week. This is a no-brainer if you're in the market for a new AM5 build.

Btw since these are individual items (and not a combo), you probably could even return the motherboard or RAM if you don't want it. Although the actual combos split up in separate items on the receipt, most store managers will not allow you to return the motherboard alone.

I played around with the 7700X in the cart yesterday instead, and it's price was an even more scorching $92. I almost pulled the trigger but the MB prices were just too high so I figured I'd wait. I didn't have to wait long as this morning they dropped the ASRock by $30 so I got the following bundle, even though I, of course, don't need it.... They did up the price of the 7700X $2 from yesterday, but in lieu of the $30 ASRock drop, I won't complain:

This is the better deal as the DDR5 is basic and slow but the huge cache on the X3D will mask the latency of the slower RAM in most cases.

But if you can get DDR5-6000 or DDR5-6400 for $50 more, that would be a lot better.
