<< Yeah I also did the price match on the hard drive. The store was jammed, but only several people in the cust. serv. line. The grandmother clerk was quick and polite with my match and printed out the rebate form. I called the 800 # on the rebate form and was told I will be eligible for the rebate since it lists the drive as a " returned item ", then again as a new " sale item " with the date and time of the 5 hour sale. If the pricematch was done outside the 5 hour sale you may not get the rebate. >>

I don't understand the confusion with the rebates for these items or why people are posting different answers from supposed BB reps...

The WD 60GB HD and G3 have NOTHING to do with the Friday 5 hour sale. If you would have bothered to actually look at the rebate form that prints out at the register for these items it clearly says valid for purchases from 11/22/2001 - 11/24/2001. The national sales ad also states that these items are onsale 11/23-11/24. The 5 hour items for 11/23 are clearley marked as "Friday Til Noon" above each price in the ad. If the item in the ad does not have this disclaimer then the prices are valid throgh today (11/24).

Also the ONLY purpose of the rebate receipt is to send in with your rebate request. It clearly states this on the rebate receipt....

Receipt valid for rebate submission only! Product which have the UPC code removed may not be returned for a refund. Open box product without a UPC will not qualify for a rebate"

I did my pricematch before noon to be safe, and the CSR mentioned the price was only good till noon. Pretty sure that meant the instant rebate. MIR is good till Sat.

I bought myself 2 hdd and a gf3 on wednesday.. Brought it back today, returned all 3 and got fresh new receipts that made it look like I bought the items today.

<< 2) COPY OF RECEIPT >>

Need4Speed: Ok.. What do they want a copy of? The rebate receipt or the sales receipt? The UPC and rebate form are a given here. The question is whether they will accept a rebate receipt in place of a copy of the original sales receipt.

When a BB CSR from the rebate 800# tells me that I may be denied if I send in a rebate receipt instead of a copy of the original sales receipt because some manufacturers don't accept a rebate receipt, that is cause for concern IMO. Especially when you are dealing with $100 in rebates.

Now.. It's perfectly obvious to me that if you copy the price match receipt, it's going to show the original purchase date on it and that's no good. When I originally PM instead of return/repurchase, I got a rebate receipt with the correct date on it. That should be fine if you send that rebate receipt in, but if BB emails you later and says that the rebate receipt is not good enough and needs to see a copy of the original receipt, you'd be screwed in that instance.

My problem is that if I do send in a copy of the sales receipt and not the rebate receipt, it will show my name on it because I purchased it with a credit card. That's not a problem, but the fact that I got two hdd's and want the MIR for both might be a problem, so I'm going back today, returning it again and then rebuying with cash. I'll just tell them that I'm close to my limit on this low rate card and need to make a couple of purchases i the next week online. Should be no biggie. I certainly don't mind going back to Best Buy again if it means that it will insure that I get the $150 in MIR's

Don't you understand the confusion?

I went in last night and got my price matched at 7PM and had no trouble and the receipt shows a price match on the 23 and the CSR said that I would not have any touble getting my rebate. All you need is a copy of the receipt, UPC, and the rebate form.

Good luck

Which receipt? The rebate receipt or the sales receipt? I feel like I'm the only one that gets the distinction here. ;)

BTW.. You should be able to get the price adjustment (return/rebuy whatever..) until 9 p.m. tonight (depends on if the CSR knows anything about the sale). The card and the hdd are part of the 2 day sale. The problem is that most of them were sold out in the first 5 minutes of the 5 hour sale.

RECEIPT MEANS SALES RECEIPT!

Sorry to shout, but that's how it ALWAYS has been, so just send in the copy of the damn sales receipt and be done with it. DON'T worry about having the same CC# if you are doing two rebates, they NEVER check. There, now you can move on in your life ;)

Thanks for clarifying that for me Lukfilm. I guess I'm still confused to as why they even bother printing out a rebate receipt then. Just a waste of paper and unecessary confusion IMO.

BTW.. Do you bother to read your own posts at all because I keep seeing the message left up by the moderators asking you to delete your signature line.

Yes...it sure is confusing

The " Sales Receipt " means the Sales Receipt... (the one that shows the product you bought, the amount you paid for it and the date of purhcase) .

Sales Receipt is NOT the Rebate Receipt (they are not asking for a Rebate Receipt.. they are asking specifically for the Sales Receipt) to get the rebate.

On rebates in general...
I always follow the directions to the letter on these things... don't try to second guess ... what if they refuse your submission and then you'll be out $50!

Slept in and PM'ed on Saturday afternoon. No line, no questions asked and left with a printed rebate form! My receipt has the date 11/21/01 on it but it should be real easy to doctor the photocopy

I've ALWAYS sent only the copy of the rebate receipt with best buy and its always worked perfect. This IS the receipt they expect you to send in, not the sales receipt. Thats why they call it a REBATE RECEIPT! Myself I did the exchange, not the pricematch or return/rebuy. I have a rebate receipt with it showing a purchase date of the 23rd only. Why would i want to confuse them showing my sales receipt with a purchase date 2 days earlier? I don't trust half of the things the rebate center CSR's are telling people. Seems like everyone is getting a different answer depending who they talk to. If the receipt, (Original sales or Rebate shows the purchase date of the 23rd) then you should be fine.

The vid card rebate form terms and conditions does not state that the purchase must be made during Nov 23-24. It only states that the offer date is Nov 23-24. So, an earlier purchase should be accepted. Proof of purchase requires a copy of receipt, not a dated receipt.

Well...the "offer date" IS the date its SUPPOSED to be purchased. Why else do you think they mentioned 'offer' for then. Strictly 23 & 24 only, not on 21, not on 22, not on 25, but 23 or 24.

<< Go back to BB and get the proper receipt! Or you may be $50 poorer >>

The Proper receipt? And which one would that be, the rebate or sales receipt? EVERYONE regardless of the situation got the original sales receipt, so why would they go back and get that? Do you mean if they did the return/rebuy ? If they require the original sales receipt then why did the rebate receipt even print out and why have I always used the rebate receipt in the past with success? It seems obvious that the rebate receipt is used to send in as proof of purchase for the rebate. If they did a pricematch then they wouldn't get the rebate receipt, only a sales receipt with the original date and the pricematch date. Normally this whole situation would be VERY clear cut, except for the fact that some CSR's at the rebate centers are saying the sales receipt has to be sent in. The bottom line is, in the past what did it say on Best Buys rebate forms. Sales receipt, rebate receipt, copy of receipt, or does it really even matter? I did the exchange and got a Rebate receipt with only the date of the 23rd on it. I'm sending that in! I did make the mistake of originally buying this card by check not realizing Best Buys refund policy if i do a rebuy. I'm sure not waiting a few weeks for them to send me back my $199.00 in the mail.

I noticed that some have said that BB will not accept pricematch receipts for the GF3 card. Am I the only one that noticed the GF3 rebate does not even go to BB, but to the dreaded New Rochelle, NY address of TCArebates? I have tried to call TCA to ask for the past few days, but no answer. Visiontek is paying the rebate here, not BB, so they set the rules. I have a return and rebuy receipt, called the BB rebate center, had them open up a case ID for me. They claimed what I have should work, and would help me get the rebate. For those of you into rebates, getting a rebate from TCA is tough sometimes.

I went back this evening and returned/rebought once again. I returned it and got a credit on my credit card and then paid in cash. Now I have 2 receipts; one dated the 23rd on my charge card for my vc and hdd and one dated on the 24th and paid in cash for the extra hdd.

I feel better about this now and feel confident about sending in all the rebates and using my dad's information for one of the hdd's. I just didn't feel like taking a chance on them checking to see if I have another rebate submission for the same item.

Dirtrat: When I talked to the CSR at the BB rebate center, he said that some manufacturers require a copy of the sales receipt even though BB prints you out a rebate receipt. He said that BB is looking into changing that policy because depending on the manufacturer, you might get denied your rebate if you turn in a rebate receipt receipt instead of a sales receipt. Once again, it depends on who the rebate submission is going to. If it's going to BB, I'm pretty sure it would not be a problem, but if it's going to a manufacturer... At the very least, they'll want to see a copy of the original sales receipt and tie up your rebate.

Better safe than sorry I guess.

I'm sure when the rebate center gets 1000 of these rebate receipts they will just accept them. It doesnt matter, the rebate receipt IS a copy of the sales receipt regardless. I got 2 cards so I put 1 with a copy of the sales and 1 with the rebate receipt, I bet they both come, if not, I'll get medieval on my local best buy mangers arse.

you're not going to get both if you sent both in together with the same address...if you look at the rebate there is only 1 PER HOUSEHOLD...

stupid BB employees should've stuck to their 1 per customer rule for the ad...to prevent those bastards who buy 4 and try and sell them online!

the only real concern i have is that they won't accept the pricematch receipt.. tho i'm pretty sure they will or i'll just make a trip to best buy again in two months... hehe.

anyway, the whole rebate receipt thing.. i've always sent in the "rebate receipt" they print out. and each time it says "copy of sales receipt" needs to be submitted. each time it's gone thru w/o a hitch. my input on it anyway.

The rebate receipt will work... if it doesn't, you'll be called or get a postcard or something and then you can go down to your local BB and get it taken careo f, or if you never get anything just bring down everything (copies of your rebate, etc.) to your local Best Buy and get your money there.

They are refusing to pricematch the card that I bought last week online to the special. I have tried in store, through e-mail, and over the phone and all they say is sorry but they can't help me but never tell me why. Can anyone help?
