ZyXEL GS108B 8 Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch with Metal Housing & Green Energy Saving Technology
$23.95 with free shipping

Don't forget to use cashback. Shop Discover gives 5% for Buy.com, and there may be others.

ZyXEL may not be a household name, but they've been around. Anyone remember back when ZyXEL modems competed with US Robotics Courier modems for being the best?

$24 isn't the cheapest for such a device as Newegg had a Shellshocker Trendnet for $20 the other day (I missed it) but it is still pretty hot.

Very nice switch. I'm using one and it's set and forget. Nice sturdy housing too.

I had a 19.2kbps zyxel, was hella expensive but tons of blinkenlights and it worked beautifully. It was a U-1496E Plus!

Sacrilege! I had a USR Courier 33.6 ISA modem with jumpers and stuff.

Hmmm, wonder if I still have it?

I still have my USR 14.4k Sportster from 1994! Complete with jumpers AND blinkenlights:

Kept it for posterity, and also because it makes that delicious modem noise when you connect it.

Got it today, man is it small. I was expecting something like my 16 port switch but this thing fits in the palm of my hand and its fast. Works great at a great price. Thanks much OP!

I just picked one up. Does what it's supposed to do. Very small footprint and no frills whatsoever. Just a small metal box with a few tiny green lights and no feet. They give you a small sticky packed square of double sided tape to mount with that's it. Luckily the cooling holes are on the side so I suppose it's ok to sit it flat on the table. I personally like the feel of a metal case. Only negative is the power adapter mounts sideways on a power strip which may block other power connections on either side. Why do manufacturers do this it's really stupid?

It all depends on the surge strip you use.
