Zune Player lags games to hell?

When I'm running the player and listening to music normally it's fine. The cpu/memory usage of the program are reasonable and there's no lag. But when I run games, even just the cut-scenes in the backround going it lags so horribly.

It's not like my computer is crap.
X1900XT
X2 6000
3GB DDR2
5,550+- 3DMark06

I can close the player and open Rhapsody instead and there's no lag anymore. I can even open up a few more programs and generaly be fine. It's only the zune player+games that does this.

Anyone else? Fixes?

Why do you want to use Zune player? As a Zune (hw) owner, I hate that piece of crap software and can't wait till someone cracks the code and comes up with an alternative sync software for the Zune. Or I'll just sell my Zune and buy a Zen.

Because I have no problems with it except for lag. I'd just use Rhapsody which I get for free but it doesn't have every song on there so I just download all that I like and put them on zune. Might as well listen to the extra songs on computer too after going through the effort.

It's the "zune.exe" that lags, not the "zunelauncher.exe"

It just happened while running an optimization program that has a 3d-graphic type backround. Zune.exe hit 50 cpu and after 5 seconds it was down to a normal 3 cpu.

Same thing happens with me on Vista. Luckily, I only have it open when I need to sync which isn't that often.

This will sounds wierd but try this:

Switch the Playlist view to "Now Playing" where you have the random album backgrounds.

Then minimize it before starting or while playing the game.

It might be fine while in that view without minimizing it but the normal view can be demanding.
