ZR1 at the 'ring 7:26.4

Didn't watch the whole video but I really liked how they displayed the speed and the rpm. It gave good perspective on how fast he was going through the turns. I think I would've passed out if I was the passenger.

damn! Get that boy some downforce.

It's got plenty... Top speed is only 208ish...

But yes, more downforce or some proper tires would have helped a lot.

Are you trying to tell me those were stock tires???!!! Makes sense they were really screaming from the understeer.

Yep, Michelin Pilots Sports I believe.

Yup, full street trim.

A lot of people give credit to the cars but isn't the skill of the driver a factor? Was the GTR and Vette both driven by the same guy?

No, each was driven by very skilled test drivers in the employ of their respective factories.

but I dont really consider the base GT-R and ZR1 to be competitors here. The ZR1 is lighter and more powerful, although the GT-R has AWD. The GT-R V-Spec will be more of a direct ZR1 competitor. That should be an interesting matchup

I'd really be interested to see how many seconds a dual clutch gearbox would shave off. For example, Porsche recently added a dual clutch transmission to the 911. The difference between a manual 911 and one equipped with the dual clutch is about 8-9 seconds around the ring.

Which makes it an apples to apples comparison. No car is perfect.

Here's a fun fact. Car and Driver have tested a total of four GT-Rs.

1/4 mile times
5/08: 11.5@124
7/08: 12.1@115 "We've since tested a third GT-R that was as quick as the first car."
8/08: 12.6@111

Variances happen, but 1.1 second at 13MPH by the same source on an AWD car?

just watched the entire vid. damn that looked intense. I cant even imagine what it'd be like to ride along in one of those runs

the slowest time was due to west coast 91 octane gas.
