...not the Extreme, rather the dual fan version...is it any good? Or Zotac brand overall? Never had one...

I was looking at Evga FTW, but its again not on stock, where i live, while these Zotacs are available in fa. More than that, Evga is going for 792 EUROs. while these Zotacs are 712. Thats quite a difference. If i wanted just one and did not want to buy another parts, i might not care for those 80 EUROs, but i actually want 2 and for 160 EUROs i can have another SSD.. or 6850K instead of 6800K or proper CPU AiO water cooling.... u get the point.

Other choices then are Gigabyte Windforce OC for 729, Gigabyte G1 Gaming, MSI Armor, MSI Aero all for 741 and Asus Turbo for 733. Any of these better choice than this Zotac? While i would prefer the lowest price possible, i am willing to spend those 30 more EUROs, if i am getting better card(s). Since the chips seem to be more of the same and luck of the draw as far OCability goes, it seems its all about noise and temps. Obviously i want a card, which will be able to keep the fastest OC possible during load, while being quietest as possible.

Thx for your suggestions.

Just bought the card and I hope its not a dud. Looking for a good performance increase over my 290. It was a good run though.

Thanks. Please share your experience once you test it. I just did some research myself and from i could gather so far it seems it has some temp issues for whatever reason, so i wonder if its just anecdotal thing or normal stuff with this card. Fingers crossed its the former.

Yes I noticed that from the TPU review but im not too worried about it. I'm also not too sure if its a manually overclock that causes that high of a temp though. The reason I got it was because of price since I only paid 630 no tax( normally tax on the card is 57 which i did not have to pay). A huge plus was even though its from a third party amazon is the one that handles the order.

Edit: As a side note I kind of feel more happy going to back to nvidia not because I think they are better than the competition but the sole reason is that the games I was always interested in seems to perform better on their cards.

I own both a GTX 980 Ti Amp Extreme and a GTX 1080 Amp Extreme, and I highly recommend the Amp or Amp Extreme series from Zotac. Top notch build quality, and a great warranty.

The GTX 980 Ti Amp Extreme was my first card from Zotac, and since then I've looked very favorably on them for my video cards.

I got the 1070 Amp version. Stock it boosts to 19xx out of box. Don't like the led lighting so turned it off. I OC mine and run fan at 70% which is just audible over my case fans. Mine runs just under 50c loaded under these conditions playing FarCry Primal with hours of play @1440p Ultra. Ran hotter when new, thinking maybe TIM is settled now.

Well, Evgas have been restocked, both FTW and SC, so i am leaning toward them in the end. FTW slightly dropped in price, from 792 to 770, which is still far cry from 712 EUROs price of Zotac, but i guess i take the additional expense.
Anyway, i am looking at 2x FTWs, which have 2x 8pin. My PSU, which i intend to keep, Seasonic S12D 750W, has apparently only 2x 6pin and 2x 6+2pin, so there are no 4 8pins. This can be fixed by some reduction, right? Or does this limit me into getting Superclocked single 8-pin version? I was considering that one as well, since i dont care that much about RGB and it probably offers the same performance/OCability as FTW, but its only about 15 EUROs cheaper, so i thought i could spend those additional money on FTWs.... obviously not, if my PSU wont handle it

Nothing wrong with EVGA's offerings. You'd probably be OK with 6 pin to 8 pin adapters. Just use 1 true 8 pin per card and adapter for the second connector. Dual 8 pin connectors are probably used more for consistent voltage than power requirements in the end.

Thank you.

One thing is however still unclear to me, i watched some unboxing video of FTW and in the box there is 2x 6pin to 8pin adapter cable included. Do i need to use that (cause it does not exactly solve my situation), or can i get away with using just a single 6pin to 8 pin adapter? Either completely different cable or using this included cable, except using only one of its 6pins (not both)?

One 8 pin from power supply directly to each card, then one 6 pin + 8 pin adapter to each card is what it sounds like you should do. It should be fine because 2x 8 pin for a GTX 1080 is extreme overkill for its power needs.

Ideally, you would have a power supply that can supply 2x 8 pin to each card, but I highly doubt you can actually max out amperage over the 2x 8 pin without extreme BIOS/voltmods.

Zotac has come a long way. It used to be the worst kind of budget brand. Their recent stuff has improved quite markedly compared to 2-3 years ago. Their AMP cards are quite excellent and I don't think you'd go wrong with it. Their warranty has also improved.

EVGA is a known quantity. To me, it boils down whether you will re-sell the GPU or not. Most people are not up to speed how much Zotac has changed, so an EVGA will be easier to sell, I think. If you don't plan to sell, then get the Zotac and pocket the change.

I just saw this card covered over at TUP. I was going to pick it up but then the Hybrid I wanted went up for pre-order.

https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Zotac/GeForce_GTX_1080_Amp/

Solid overall card based on the review. My first (and only) Zotac card was my reference 980 Ti. It was a golden sample, hit insane clocks out of the box with 100% fan setting. Slapped an EVGA Hybrid kit on it and it rocks those clocks @ ~45C. Girlfriend is now rocking it, she's very happy with it.

Thank you all!

In the end, i chose Evga cards. Was bit afraid of the Zotacs going hot or too loud in case i would want to make them colder. Evga seems to be safer bet with their ACX cooler. But obviously at higher price.

Alongside those, i ordered Gigabyte X99P SLI board, 6850k (here is a hoping for a good sample capable of doing at least 4,4 at decent volts), 4x8GB Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz RAM, 500GB Samsung Evo SSD and another 250GB one of the same kind to add to my existing Intel 510...and Corsair H105 AiO. My first watercooling ever, quite excited to see how it works.

Could be getting it as soon as tomorrow, so i am buzzing now:-D My first build since this X58 from 2010... it served me well. Hopefully the new one will be equally reliable.
