Zoom x5 modem/router question

I have a Zoom x5 modem/router that I used until I moved and Verizon gave me a new D-Link to use. I am wanting to use the Zoom for Basic Talk phone service, but when I hook it up the dsl light won't stop blinking. Basic Talk told me I need to disable the firewall on the Zoom. I am not sure how to do this and also it isn't hooked up to my computer, if I connect it and disconnect the one from Verizon I won't know how to reconnect it when I am done.
