Zoo pictures

Went to the Potawatomi Zoo in South Bend, IN yesterday and took my D1 and 180 2.8 along with me. Put up a few pics. Not all are spectacular as I was taking pictures of pretty much every animal for a friend's day care classroom, but there a few I like in particular. PICS :camera:

Particularly cool looking animals:

So graceful 🙂
Ugliest aminal
Im 150 years old! 😉
I will eat you!
Yumm.....

One cool thing about this zoo, probably the only unique thing, is shown in this picture. Some of the animals you would normally see far away and seperated by a moat in larger zoos are only seperated by a piece of thick glass in this zoo. Lets you get real close and pose for pictures with them.

Updated the original post.

Not a sony camera, a Nikon D1. Filenames might be similar but I it's not sony. I (like to think) I take good pictures because that's what I get paid to do during the day. 😀 However good equipment certainly helps. 😉

Cyberian-I do. I shoot for a newspaper. 🙂

Nice camera Lucky, yeah, the files names led me to believe it was a Sony 😱

The D1's focal lenth magnifier effectively makes it a ~270 f/2.8.

Good grief.
How much was that lens?
You got any other digitals for point and shoot?
Thereis just no way they will ever be as good as a camera with nice huge lenses.
Even a nice camera like a Canon G5 is it now?
the shots would be so far away and have a lot less light
:frown:

All the equipment is work-provided, but I can use it for personal stuff if I want. I couldn't afford this stuff on my own. The lens was about $800 new, I think it's about 10 years old. Just got overhauled by nikon and had the front element replaced for $300 about a month ago. I've got a Canon G2 but it can't compare to my work camera in terms of quality and flexibility of lenses.
