ZoneAlarm?

Two questions. Should I leave ZoneAlarm constantly unlocked, or should I Lock it and specify which app is allowed to bypass, or should I manually lock and unlock as needed?

What is Microsoft Q Manager? Can or should I turn it off? It's in startup, and it accesses the internet for whatever reason. I would like to minimize startup items but I still don't know what many of them do.

thanks,

you might wanna clear the list of programs that can access the internet and as you do things one at a time, see what is trying to access the internet. if its part of a program you know is legit, fine. if not, dont allow it access.

ZA has a setting that will automatigically turn on the lock when the screen saver goes on... this is a good idea to use. Use the lock bypass for essential things - any ftp/web server you have, Napster or gnutella if you don't want to cut users off or want to download when the screen saver is on. Outlook Express crashes on my comp when I don't give it pass lock. Anyway, I do the automatic lock option rather than manual.

I'm no expert but I leave mine on except when gaming. I turned the security level to low. It still blocks all kind of crap. Its worked well for me for a coule of months.

Tried that. By screensaver do you mean a desktop screensaver? I just use the blue screen, so maybe that's why it wouldn't lock/unlock automatically.
