ZoneAlarm causing problems with Routers

Has anyone experienced this? My Netgear WGR614 v3 keeps dropping my internet connection, and the only explanation I can think of is that its having some sort of conflict with ZoneAlarm.

I have the latest firmware for the router.

Is there really any point to me running ZoneAlarm if I have a router? I'm thinking "no" even though all routers have their security holes.

I don't know if the NetGear router have firewall integrated in it like with Linksys router but if so, you should uninstall ZoneAlarm.

Update: deactivating zonealarm did not fix the problem.

I still get periodic disconnects.

Can someone list a few probable causes so I can do some troubleshooting? I'm new to networking and this is my first router.

I get that problem sometimes too, but I have the DLINK router. How's your signal strength? Mines anywhere from 3 to 4 bars.

Wireless connectivity between the router and my 2 laptops has been perfect.

Its the hard-wired connection between my gaming box and the internet (via the router) that's been dropping

I have a linksys router and I also had a problem with zonealarm and my router. They both work great by themselves but when i installed zonealarm i had problems connecting to the internet and other computers on the network. I ended up uninstalling zonealarm cuz i couldnt figure it out :(

Are you on Comcast cable by any chance? I am, and the service has been horrible for the last 4 weeks or so with flaky connections and 1000 ping jumps in games.

No, I'm on rcn

service sucked balls when I signed up in 2002 but has been solid all through 2003-4.
