ZoneAlarm acting wierd

LintMan

I just installed ZoneAlarm on my dad's PC, and it has started acting a bit strangely.

It began saying that program <blank> wants to access the internet and/or act as a server. It doesn't literally say "<blank>", it just leaves the information completely blank. It usually asked for this permission right after asking for permission from "Generic Host Processor" (which I OK).

After I saw this a bit, I reinstalled ZoneAlarm, and it seemed to go away, but now it's returned.

Does anyone know what's causing this and/or how I might fix it?

As a side question: does anyone know why "Generic Host Processor" needs to access the internet all the time, and especially why it wants to act as a server? Is there any way to find out what service/program is using it?

Thanks!

I am also having the exact same problem. In addition, ZA does not seem to always want to remember that it has been told not to ask again for permission for a given application. Sometimes it does and sometimes it does not.

I am running Windows XP on two machines and both exhibit the same problem.

For some reason ZA does not like my win XP. I have the newest version of ZA and the TRUVECTOR engine causes a fault and does not load properly. I got some wierd errors because of that such as blocking my own internet explorer even though i allowed that software to use the net.

Never had a problem using zonealarm the last year or two under Win98SE, now with WinXP I am having the same intermittant problems as those described here as well as intermittently failing to load on first try. Yes, I have the latest version of ZA.

I also have been having this problem since moving to XP. I think Microsoft did something in the updates, because it worked fine until I did them.
