Hi everybody, this is my first post. I am so glad I stumbled across this forum, Ive been getting distracted reading all the posts for the last several so I finally decided to register and wouldn't you know it, an issue came up that I have been meaning to ask about..

Almost EVERY time without failure when I copy a file, often jpgs or gifs sometimes exe and dll files to a cd or dvd I get an additional file that is the following;
samefilename.typ:Zone.Identifier;DATA
Now that isn't so bad EXCEPT when I go to click and drag a folder or folders from the cd or dvd source with those files in it I get a error message that says it can not copy the file, "can not read from the source file or disk." And so it stops and I have to work around to figure what files have been copied over ect ect what fun that is.
So much for click and drag..
What really ticks me off is I cant delete the file from the DVD, I have to format the disc. I own a lot of RW discs as a result.
I NEVER EVER see a Zone.Identifier;DATA file on any of my HD's. The files always appear on most of my DVD's that I archive.

My work around is this handy streams.exe file that deletes these invisible lurking Zone files on my HD before I copy a file over. It always finds some if not many and a lot of the files are legit and trustworthy so they do not need a Zone file

Is there a way to just altogether avoid these pesky lil Zone identifier files that do nothing for me but ruin my DVD archives?
