Zone Alarm Question...

I upgraded to Win2K and found that my Internet Security 2000 wasn't compatible. So I went ahead and downloaded ZoneAlarm.
I've been getting alerts that I blocked FTP from 211.34.39.130.

I looked at more info and found that Asia Pacific Network Information Center owns the IP address.

What does this mean? Is someone trying to hack me. I've also been getting them from my ISP. But that's normal isn't it?

You'll get "probes" from all over...some people run port sniffers to look for open ports, etc, etc...I, too, use Zone Alarm and get 20-30 a day, easy :)

I get those all the time, from Asia Pacific Network IC to the European something-or-other. Be glad you're blocking them :).

BTW, if you have IIS installed and you're running an FTP server, you might want to check your logs every once in a while (winnt/system32/logfiles). Misconfigurations happen...

Depends if you're on a static IP or not. Anyway, if you don't know what it's for you're better off if you just block it. Chances are it probably won't hurt you but it's safer this way . . . unless your IM shuts off or a download quits, etc. :)
