Zone Alarm Pro Problem

I have ZA Pro 2.6.362 (latest version). I'm running Win XP home. Whenever I play Team Fortress Classic, ZA blocks it and doesn't let the game get a list of servers. If I exit the game and look at the alerts on ZA, I have this message:

The firewall has blocked Internet access to half-life.west.won.net (216.52.220.16) (UDP Port 27010) from your computer.

Time: 1/6/2002 9:07:48 AM

By looking at the address it blocked (half-life.west.won.net) I know it's not allowing the game, even though I have Half-Life Launcher allowed in the program list. Is there any way to allow these servers so I don't have to close ZA every time I play Team Fortress? Thanks.

you need to configure your outgoing and incoming ICMP rules. i'm not sure if zonealarm will let you do this, since its not that configurable. maybe you should try Tiny Personal Firewall. also, you should enable UDP/TCP port and permissions for the app or game you want to access the internet or servers.

freeware 😉

well you definitely have to be in advanced mode in ZA and then go in and where it lists all your rules and you'll see of all the things that is blocking and allowing then just go in and change the blocked address or app and allow it.

Did you install ZA after or before installing Half Life.

There is a problem with ZA and Half Life as they don't seem to like each other.

It is best to uninstall ZA before installing Half Life. For instance the update software for Half Life will not work if the vectorial service is running for ZA, and it keeps running even when you turn ZA off, so that is why you need to uninstall ZA completely.

By the way, Half Life, Team Fortress, Counter Strike, Day of Defeat all use the same application hl.exe, so it is the same problem for all of them
