Zone Alarm and Vista

Any idea when ZA will have a Vista certified security suite on the market? It's almost summer time and Vista's been out for a while.

Really, with Vista, ZA is not really necessary if you have a decent ISP and a broadband NAT router. Vista has Windows Defender built in and it does a good job and stays out of the way.

I dumped ZA Pro 6 months ago. It just got too bloated and took too much time in the boot load process.

I personally dislike "suites." They are usually always bloated compromises.

Well, Windows Defender is a spyware scanner... if he wants to control what's calling home, that doesn't help.

Personally i don't use ZA or anything of that sort. I have no problems with legitimate programs calling home.

There is a rumoured beta available, but I have not tried it.

The built in Vista firewall with the Advanced Security Snap-in allows outbound and inbound filtering. The rules can be very advanced (and a pain to set up).

As for freebies and 3rd parties check out Schadenfroh's Consolidated Security thread.
