Get out of here. I definately don't need to gain anymore weight than I have now. However I need to diagnose why i'm so sad as soon as possible.

Do you guys just talk to a regular doctor and he refers you to someone else?

I used it briefly a few years ago. Just went to a psychiatrist, talked for about 10 minutes, and he filled out a prescription.

funny, when i was taking zoloft it actually decreased my appetite. i lost 5 lbs over a 3 week period. from 170lbs to 165lbs. it also made me a sex god, i could jerk it like no other for hours on end if i felt like it.

but over the 3 weeks time i took it it really did nothing for my social anxiety. you have depression so your mileage may vary.

lol.. my friend just started on this.. she got more depress on it.. but i guess it takes time for this to work..

Almost all of the SSRIs can cause weight gain.

Just do a google for Zoloft and weight gain.

After being put on it I gained about 15 pounds.

Look for something more like Wellbutrin. Tends to have a more uppy thing going for it.

you generally need longer thatn 3 weeks for it to take full affect.

As with all medication, talk to the doctor.

Strange, I lost 10 lbs after being put on Paxil. I think it really depends on the person. I was unable to sleep when on Paxil. I felt like I had been awake for 2 weeks straight. I was also unable to think clearly and made it harder to learn. Even though this was Paxil, all SSRIs are similar and they all have bad side effects including sexual side effects. I eventually said screw it I'd rather live without it.

you must have been given a very low dosage. at a higher dosage you wouldn't be able to jerk it at all, nor would you have any desire to. :-/

i was on 50MG first week, next 2 weeks i upped it to 100MG. my desire was teh same, but could last longer. orgasm wasn't that great though.

now that i am off it, i can't even last 1/8 as long as before, but now my orgasms feel great.

TMI

i was on it, it worked but it's got a strange side effect in that, if you forget a day or two you get really light-headed and dizzy. good reminder to take your pills i guess. when i finally quit i felt light headed for probably two weaks even tho i tapered off. definitely wierd, didn't like the feeling at all. now i'm on lexapro and i like it much better - no wierd side effects. it's basically the same thing but refined.

btw, i never noticed any sex problems, did gain some significant pounds but i think that has more to do with my new 2 hour commute and mcdonalds!

#1 - I'm not sure "jerking it" qualifies one for sexual diety status. :Q

#2 - Perhaps it wasn't the Zoloft depressing your appetite that got you to lose 5lbs in 3 weeks. Perhaps it was the additional excercise and loss of fluid. 😉

been on Zoloft for more than 3 years for social anxiety/depression. 100mg/day (definately NOT a low dose)
It has only had a positive influence on my sex life/performance, and I have not gained any unevpected weight

You will only know how it affects you if you try it

You need to talk to a doctor, tell him your symptoms, and he will suggest some drugs or therapy for you

Prescription? I just opened one of those friendly emails about where to buy it, and picked up some Valium at the same time! Awesome!

[/sarcasm]

But to be honest, any kind of drug that messes with your mind scares me, good intentions or not.

I took Zoloft about 5 years ago for a brief time. It was pretty good. Made my mouth hella dry though. I would wake up in the night sometimes because I needed water so badly. That may be unrealted though. Best to talk to a REAL doctor or hit up their web site. I dont remember seeing bad ju ju as a side affect but I may be wrong.
