For all you rice heads out there, this is the newest and best japanese made rice cooker out there. It makes perfect rice, porridge, sushi, mixed rice every time. Makes as little as 1 cup or 10 cups at a time. Clock Timer feature lets you tell the cooker exactly when to have the rice ready; either when you come home after work, or first thing in the morning.

The cheapest this is elsewhere is $169. www.samsclub.com has it for $135.

Yeah, it's pricey, but it's worth it if you eat a lot of rice. It's the made in japan version of the machine which is better quality than their made in china version.

As I always tell my girlfriend, "perfect rice - every time." I have the 3 cup version, and I love it. I've seen the 3 cup versions going for $115, so I think this is a good deal.

We have one of these in my home and it's great. A little on the big side, but cooks perfectly. I paid $150 for ours in an amazon gold box+coupon deal.
[EDIT] Nevermind, I bought the JCC18 for that price.

What's the model #? I know I always go into the 99 Ranch stores or other Asian variety stores and see these Zojirushi's, but I'm not sure which is the better model.

Bump for a great price on a great product. Zojirushi makes good stuff! Is this .com only or has anyone seen this at Sam's B&M?

how many days can the rice stay warm in this thing? The current one I have lasts about 2-3 days...but I am too lazy to always keep cooking new rice and throwing out the old leftovers.

I prefer the Panasonic units because they have a setting for steaming food. In fact that's all I ever use mine for. Link

Wow! You can keep rice warm in it for days? Does it actually say you can do that in the manual?

To me it sounds like one of two things can happen: 1. Your rice gets really dry. 2. Your rice gets incubated - meaning everything living on it will want to breed and turn up in larger numbers.

But maybe these things can overcome those issues I don't know. It just seems to me that there might be a warning in the manual against leaving stuff in there for days.

My 3 cup fuzzy logic keeps rice for at least three days, but you get lots of nasty side effects (like severe overdrying). Of course, the recommended time is something like 24 hours, and it keeps track of how long you've been keeping it warm.

I absolutely LOVE my Zojirushi. Mine is a 10 cup model but it's about 4 years old. As far as I know, Zojirushi makes the best rice steamers anywhere. I steam frozen corn-on-the-cob in it all the time.
Now for a question, where can I get a rice dispenser? I saw one when I lived in Hawaii but I can't find them anywhere mainland. If you don't know what a rice dispenser is, it's a big plastic tower-box that stores those 25 pound bags of rice and can dispense it in measured quantities. I buy my Thai rice in 25 pound bags & I hate storing it in the bag.
Any help? :(

What setting do you use for steaming? The only settings I see are for cooking rice.

Talk about an incubation chamber..using the keep warm function for 3 days in a row. :D

My roommate has a Zojirushi JCC10 5-cup Neuro Fuzzy rice cooker and it works really well.

Thanks degeester.

"Kewl", you just fill the rice-cooking bowl with 1.5 cups water, put the food in the plastic steaming basket & let it cook like rice would.....except you time it for 15 minutes vice letting it turn itself off like it would with rice. Pretty easy!

How easy is it to keep this thing clean? Does the container that cooks the rice come out for easy cleaning?

Ya of course! :) It's anti-stick like a frying pan but not quite as antistick.

Cha-

We use a large glass jar from Target or somewhere. It will hold almost a complete 25lb bag of Jasmine.

You can get a rice dispenser from these guys . I bought my cooker from them and had no probs with their service.sunpowerusa

Keeping this unit clean is a breeze. Nothing sticks to the non-stick pot and the top inner lid pops off easily. The only thing that is a minor pain to clean is the vent on the top of the lid; nothing too bad but a minor annoyance.
