Maybe the Republicans, but Jpeyton's thread shows that democrats are more trusted than Bush. Looks like the Repulican Congress is dying a slow painful death.

Coupled with a previous poll that shows voters trusting Democrats in Congress over Republicans, this just means more bad news for the GOP in November 2008.

Considering the President controls the war and the only thing Congress can do with respects to the military is funding the war, i'm assuming people are upset that congress hasn't shut the war down yet, because that wouldn't make sense any other way.

Also, i think heartsurgeon is mistaken here if he thinks this is an indictment of the Democrats, almost every poll i've seen when asked about Democrats vs. Republicans (not Bush vs. Congress) has shown that the public wants the Democrats in power. Maybe the Republicans should stop offering douchebag Bush clones to the public and start supporting someone more trustworthy (*cough Ron Paul cough* :D)

Actually both threads are a perfect example of how to ask a poll question and get the answer you want.

That said, this is not good news for either party. They both come off looking like a bunch of clowns.

Aye...

Congress includes GOP. Plus more GOP Senate seats up for election in 2008. GOP will be lucky if they can still filibuster in 2009.

Not really. Heartsurgeon is insinuating this poll is an indictment of the Democrats when it's an indictment of the whole congress (including the repubs). I think the public understand that the Republicans (save for the few brave ones who opposed the war) are being obstructionist and keeping this war alive.

Actually, it makes sense if you really think about it. The anti-war people are pissed off at congress's inability to stop the war, and the pro-war people are pissed off the Democrats are in power and trying to stop the war and the Republican congress are slowly jumping ship to the anti-war party.

Bush is the face of the Republican party and he's steadfast in his support for the war, so the neo-cons who still support the war are still very happy with him.

A) Don't the forum rules require to put your own input in?
B) Isn't "Read it and weep" a bit childish?
C) I'm guessing a lot of Americans just associate the current Congress with the Iraq War. The Democratic Congress hasn't done enough to get people upset.

I don't see that take from the left. What I see on TV (right wing media conspiracy?) are a bunch of people picketing DEMOCRAT congressmen and senators. Cyndi Sheehan and others were arrested for bugging John Conyers on that issue and impeachment just a few days ago. Then there was that other congressman a couple months ago who lost it when some kid pestered him about defunding the war.

Based on my observations I don't think people see the Rs as being the reason we can't get out of Iraq. I honestly think they believe the Ds have let them down. That they were used to get the Ds back into power. They were elected to get us out and they haven't done anything to accomplish that. Over promise, under deliver. I really think that is the major disappointment here.

Neither Congress nor the President's administration has any reason to brag. This petty "OMGZ WE ARE 2% HIGHER THAN YOU IN THE POLLS" while both branches are in the toilet is pathetic.

I fail to see the OP's point. Is he glad about more troops dying in Iraq - or that they should be brought home now? He fails to make his case on this clear......

It?s an interactive on-line poll, not as accurate as making phone calls.

I don?t think the results should be a surprise, I think Americans are upset with how everyone is handling the war.

You, on the other hand, are making your strawman quite clear.

If you are going to change my quote you need to make note of that.
