Zire 71 can use wireless SD card?

I was browsing through Fry's today when I came across Sandisk's SDIO WiFi card. It said that it was compatible with my Palm Zire 71, but I was under the assumption that my Zire 71 only had an SD slot and not an SDIO slot. I read somewhere that SDIO cards don't work in ordinary SD slots, yet the packaging for the Wifi card and Sandisk's website clearly state that the Zire can handle the Wifi card. PalmOne's website says there is an SD/SDIO update for the Zire 71. Will this upgrade my Zire from simply having an SD slot to becoming an SDIO slot? Does anyone have any ideas on this?
