Ziplock bags, any brands good for long-term use?

I bought a load of ziplock bags from the local supermarket but I've had problems with a fair few of them where the plastic bit that controls the opening/locking action just falls off the end and I can't persuade it to go back on.

I wonder whether they're designed for one or two uses. I was hoping to tidy up my collections of hardware (like dumping a load of small cables into one bag), but I have the feeling that they're not suitable for this purpose in the long term.

I just use the old-fashioned ones without the fancy zipper. I don't find them any harder to use, plus those zipper things always break.

I have used those types of things and they suck. One move and you'll find that every little component is now jumbled together as the box was tilted (or worse). Or, one small accident bumps the whole thing on the floor and all contents go everywhere. This is especially a problem since those have narrow bases and tend to be top-heavy. Now, if there is one with sealed compartments, then it is worth getting.
WTF?

Use shoe organizer instead?

I really liked the ziplocs with the slide piece when they first came out, but my last batch was so cheap that like half of them fell off (and this was the ziploc brand!). However, ziploc improved their double-seal fingertip-push system (see easy-open tab version below). Get the freezer bags, they are heavier-duty & last longer for cables. I keep my spare cables in ziploc bags, labeled with a Sharpie, in a big 27-gallon tote from Home Depot.

You know those bags where you can suck out the air with a vacuum?
Far thicker than any ziplock bags, and they can take a beating, and aren't that expensive either.
I got a 10 pack years ago, and they still are in good shape. That is where I stick all my cables.

Yep, those "zipper lock" baggies truly suck. If they work at all, they don't work for long, and the seal is never as tight as the "regular" kind. Unless you have bad arthritis or something, they're just a total waste of money.
