ZipDrive in SLOW MOTION! :(

Phuz

Diamond Member
I plug everything in, and install the newest software and when I go to transfer a file.. it lags out!
wtf?
Even after I stop using it or transfering files, teh slow motion of sinwos remains..
(mouse sensitivity, acticity..ect)..
Until I reboot.
WHY!? 🙁

Uhm, how insightful "workin'" keep that crap out of here, im quiet annoyed, because it has worked fine on other computers.
It's the parallel port model. Windows 98..

Duron @ 1000mhz
Asus A7V
Geforce2 GTS
IBM 75GXP 30GB
Diamond MX300
Asus 50x
ECT.

Oh, and it's external.
🙂

cool. internal parallel zip. never seen one of those before.
do you just hook it up to the parallel port with a ribbon cable?

Does it make a clicking sound? If so, sounds lick the "Click of Death". Well known on zip drives. Though I haven't worked with parallel zips, it's common on SCSI and IDE. The drive heads get damaged. Sometimes happens if you put a damaged disk in the drive. In turn putting a good disk in a damaged drive can damage the disk. I would try it on a computer that it has worked on before and see what happens.

Hey Phuz you are a jackass. Don't get angy at me because you are too stupid to post that it worked on other computers or any other details. WTF?? I was just trying to help you. But rest assured I will not make that mistake again.

"Is it a parallel port model? If so, that's why. They suck"
IS NOT, in any way/shape/form helping me. Ok?
Please stay away from my threads if you're going to be so negative and childish.

Other people, thanks for you're help.. I'm testing it now/playing with the bios settings now. I had just plugged it in and expected it to work before.

Well atleast yours is only slow..... mine has the click of death... And Ive only used it about 20 times out of the 2 years Ive had it.... very upseting.

Be sure the par port is set up to EPP (not ECP) in the bios. If you have a choice between EPP 1.7 and 1.9, pick 1.9. There should be a parallel port accelerator program with the drivers. Run that after the bios is setup. The Pport zips are pretty slow. You will only get so much out of them. I have a Pport and a USB version. Big difference.

Just so you know, I did not rate you.

I'm sorry if you didn't catch on in my first post that more information might help your cause. It is widely known that the parallel port zip drives often exhibit the problems you are seeing.

You should try backing down on the caffeine. Life's too short to be so hostile.

If that's an apology I accept, but the hostility only started when you called me a stupid jaskass.

<< Uhm, how insightful "workin'" keep that crap out of here, im quiet annoyed.... >>

That was your second post, and when the hostility started.

And that's the last I'm going to say.

Sorry to keep bring back this thread others, but WORKING. ARE YOU NOT ABLE TO READ?
Saying something that I own sucks is hostile and doesn't fix the problem.
No go away please.

Hey Phuz you Troll

In real life you are probably normal, but face it, just because YOU bought something, you think that makes it not suck? Are you 12 years old?

Thanks for dragging both of us down into the slime. I guess I should have said "is less than optimal" instead of "sucks" to avoid offending your delicate sensibilites.

Did you get your Zip drive working again?

Is anyone else seeing his logic? Because I'm not.

I'm not a troll.
I never once stated anything about my zip drive being good, it was given to me.
I simply want it to work.

I think you need to just refrain from threads you can't post sensibly on, k?

Now that my topic is way the hell off topic, lets just forget about it.
