Zip Drives

A long time ago (close to 6 years probably) I bought a zip drive that later developed the syndrome that we all know of as the click of death. I contacted Iomega but they said I could only get a discount on a new one which is ridiciuluous because it was obvious that it was a defect in the product. I never threw it out. Not sure why...guess I thought one day there might be a fix for the problem or something.

Recently I came across this on the internet:
http://grc.com/tip/codfaq5.htm

It seems that David Hellier, Iomega's General Manager of the Zip Aftermarket Business made a promise on television to take care of these. The website was last updated March 2005.

Does anyone know if they are still honoring this promise? I know my product is very old but Iomega was wrong to turn me away in the first instance when I contacted them about the problem.

Does anyone know when this promise was made?

Looks like you need to call Iomega again and during your conversation of asking to get it replaced, bring up the David Hellier comments.. Iomega settled weakly a class-action lawsuit brought against them for theses drives.. I think David Hellier put his foot in his mouth and now they are having to own up to it.
