A long time ago (close to 6 years probably) I bought a zip drive that later developed the syndrome that we all know of as the click of death. I contacted Iomega but they said I could only get a discount on a new one which is ridiciuluous because it was obvious that it was a defect in the product. I never threw it out. Not sure why...guess I thought one day there might be a fix for the problem or something.
Recently I came across this on the internet:

It seems that David Hellier, Iomega's General Manager of the Zip Aftermarket Business made a promise on television to take care of these. The website was last updated March 2005.
Does anyone know if they are still honoring this promise? I know my product is very old but Iomega was wrong to turn me away in the first instance when I contacted them about the problem.
Does anyone know when this promise was made?
