Zip drive keeps changing drive letter

All right, this has been driving me nut. I have WD 400BB which I partitioned into C and D drive. The zip 250 is the E and the CDROM is the F drive. Everything would work fine for a while, then the damn zip drive would becomes the D drive!!! Better yet, after a few more days, the damn thing switches back to E drive!!! WTF???? Check out my comp below.

Iwill KK266
1GHz 266 T-Bird@1333 MHz
Swiftech MC370
Antec SX830
256 MB Crucial PC133 CL2
WD 400BB
Viper TNT2 Ultra
Zip 250
Generic CD ROM

I installed the VIA 4 in 1 update. I have not upgrade the bios yet. I used Partition Magic to partition the drive. Thank for the help in advance.:frown:

Go to device manager, find your zip drive, right click it and go to properties. On the settings tab you should see
Start drive letter
and
End drive letter

Just set these two to be the same, at some letter over what you currently use/need.

This will force the drive to keep the drive letter you assign.

It works for CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives and other removable media, so it should work for the zip drive, sorry if it doesn't.

What happens with me is, if I leave a disk in the ZIP drive, then shut down or restart the system, when the system comes up it will re-assign the drive letter. When you notice these drive letter changes is it after leaving a disk in the drive? Otherwise do what was suggested above.

Okay guys and gals, all your suggestions were correct. Thank you all for the help everyone. I went into the bios and changed the setting on the zip. Got the suggestion from the "amdmb.com" forum. Thank again.
