zip drive as primary slave

Would installing zip100 drive as primary slave on IDE1 effect hard drive performance in any way?

I've had mine setup that way for year and a half now with no
ill effects. Some people might say to put it on the secondary slave tho. I don't have a cdrw yet so I've been backing up data to my zip so
I use it alot but thats getting old and considering the cost of zip disk , cdrw is the way to go.

I've also got my ATAPI ZIP set to Primary Slave and have had it in this configuration for well over a year with no bad effects. I've run various benchmarks as well as HDTach on my HDD and all is as it should be
