I do my tape backups of my documents on a Zip disk and read/write protect it. My home machine is XP and at work is Windows 2000. When I try and open up my files at work, it lets me enter the password to unprotect it, but then it won't read the disk. Concerns me that I wouldn't be able to restore my files which is the whole purpose behind it. Iomega support has been no help.

Ideas?

I dissagree..ZIP disks are actually very reliable compared to standard floppies.
Prefontaine:Can you read/write non-protected disks? Try one that you have not protected and see what happens. Rule out hardware as the problem.

I never said that they are as bad as floppies :) Nothing is as bad as a floppy. But zips arnt the most reliable ether. I'm just saying that you should try a pen drive.

Funny thing you mention that though, I am currently looking at those pen drives/memory sticks to replace my own ZIP drives. Don't get me wrong, Zips have done me good over the years, but USB drives are just way more convienent. Not to mention that ZIP disk prices are still way overpriced.
