I just got a scsi jaz drive that use 50-pin male connector. I also have a zip that uses 25 pin male connector as well. Both devices are hooked up to my Tekram 390u2w. Everything works fine, both devices show in the scsi bios, and both devices show up in windows 2k and 98. The way they are connect is the cable goes from my scsi card to the jaz then from jaz to zip. The problem is that I can read and write to the zip just fine in windows 2k and 98. But when i insert in a jaz disk and try to open it it gives me the message "Please insert a disk into drive g:" drive g: is the jaz drive. After i insert the jaz disk in the yellow light flash about 20 seconds and then stop and flashes slowly every second. My question is "is my jaz drive dead?"

have you try hooking directly to jaz with out zip ? I have several jaz and they all went bad, not sure if it's the disc or drive. I can't format the disk anymore. do you know if the disk carry a life warranty ?

If you want to find out if your jaz is working why do you hook up the zip drive? Put the jaz as the only device on the scsi chain.
And make sure it is properly terminated.
