Zip 100 parallel port drive very slow.

I built a computer using an AMD 800 and ABIT KT7-Raid board. Once I got the system running I put my zip drive on the parallel port and it ran much slower than it did on my previous system. What am I doing wrong? I've changed the EPP, ECP and such in the BIOS setup and nothing improved. I also have the drivers installed properly. I would appreciate any advice.

In the BIOS, try setting the ECP or EPP (forgot which, but it may not matter) to Type 1.7, rather than 1.9. Also, make sure you run the parallel port accelerator program that's installed when you install the zip drive drivers.

I have an ABIT KA7 board and experienced the same problem.

If you still have problems, I'll follow up with more explicit directions.

the parallel drive IS slow no matter what. go buy yourself an internal atapi drive, they run about $40 right now. MUCH faster.
