zillow is the biggest crock of crap I've ever seen. They at one point had our home overvalued by 30 k and undervalued by 30k within the span of a few months.

Anyone actually take their zomgestimate for real? I just like to use it to view easy access for bought/sold or basic home stats in the area.

I met an attorney once who said that they actually used zomgestimates in court for legit estimates.

 
My guess would be that it only works in a fairly static market. In this market, where house prices are falling and there is no liquidity, zillow will always overestimate. The house I'm looking at now is listed at 215, and I'm probably going to offer 200 for it. Zillow thinks it's worth 257. That's more than 25% over.
 
Funny i was just checking zillow out now. Is Zillow accurate for CT? I am just in disbelief that some of these POS shanties are fetching 400K+ on that website.
