Zerus MMxtreme SUCKS?!?!?

Hi,

I just replaced a P5/200MMX with a Zerus 240MMXtreme (IDT Winchip) @ 266, and it really sucks @ Seti. I'm running linux, and I think my time is going up by 30-40%. Does anyone else have any opinions or hard facts about this. I'm really thinking about putting that 200 back in there, because it looks like it's sucking so bad....

Thanks for any replies.

I've never heard of it before. Probably why you're having problems. Sorta like the old cyrix chips. They sucked!

I'm pretty sure the P200 should be better at Seti!

The Winchip CPU's were never too fast, in my experience(limited experience) :Q

I agree , they vaccume!!!!!! Used a Winchip C6 200 yrs ago and for the time it was alright. Tried crunching seti with it last year, and it suxored BAD!! A Pentium 200 non MMX would crunch DAYS faster than the Winchip. Similar to the Cryix, it had poor fpu. I would go back to the P200 for crunching.........

Yep, as AMD is fond of reminding us, megahertz isn't everything. Chip architecture is a big factor, and Pentiums back in the day were much better built than any of its rivals.
