Hi all,

Does anyone know if the thermal grease that comes with the HSF is better than Artic Ceramique?

I have both and want to know which is the better of the 2 to apply with it.

Thanks!

Number2,

For the first application, go with the HSF and it's thermal pad. When you have to put new paste on it down the road, use the Arctic.

The thermal pads that come on stock HSFs are known to provide pretty good conductivity.

But in the final analysis, it's what you're most comfortable with...

Quite frankly, unless it's 20 years old it's going to perform within 1-2 degrees of any ceramic or silver thermal paste on the market. Most people put way too much weight on the thermal paste their using. A lot of the really extreme overclockers I know still use AS ceramique and haven't even moved up to AS5 or TX2 or Shin Etsu because ceramique is so cheap and what's 1 degree going to do? Unless you're going to pay for diamond thermal paste, I would say just use what came with it because it's free, the chances of it being some horrible TIM are almost nil. Even toothpaste is a great TIM, atleast for about a day.

Derwin,

You're absolutely right. I also believe that any thermal paste will work as well, almost wrote it that way... I was thinking thermal pad when I saw HSF. My bad!

That's why I like this forum, lots of knowledgeable folks like you to keep us all honest!!
