Because it goes on your PERMANENT RECORD!!!!

If you just wanted to get out of school there are a crapton of other ways to do it anyway.

That's what I tell the military when they don't want to eat their vegetables. I also tell them they're failing lunch but, it never has much impact.

Maybe they should go after people who bring REAL guns to school and actually shoot people, and not freaking toys. This is ridiculous.

LOL..When I was in school everybody made gun racks in shop to stick in the back of their pickup truck.
I'd bet there was 100 or more guns just in the parking lot.
Funny thing, there weren't many school shootings back then.
There definitely were no mass school shootings.

Kid learned a more important lesson that day than he probably will through the rest of elementary school. Keep your head down, your mouth shut, and don't volunteer anything to "authority" because there's a good chance it'll be used against you.

Indeed. Too bad the father apparently hadn't learned it: "What was he supposed to do?...Just hide it and keep it in his bag so he doesn't get in trouble?" Yes, that's exactly how nonsensical strict liability rule/law violations should be handled.

When was that? (Approximate year(s).)

Sad but true. Authority is not there to protect you, but to find any reason to penalize you. You want to just blend in with society as best as possible, as well.

Once again school administrators have proven that they are indeed the dumbest people on the planet.

The reality is that businesses, schools, and all kinds of organizations are (1) run by human beings, and (2) who are under the rule of, well, rules. So we get uptight people with ridiculous NAZI-style rules. If any reasonable person were to take a step back from this situation, the solution would be obvious - the kid realized an unintentional mistake had been made and chose the morally right path. And they punished him for it. Not a lesson he'll soon forget, I'm sure.

So if I paint the tip of my real gun orange, I can wave it around without bothering people?

You can go and try if you want.

Try your local police station, shout "you'll never take me alive copper!" for good measure.

Report back if all goes well, don't worry if it doesn't I'm sure we'll hear about it.

Once again school administrators have proven that they are indeed the dumbest people on the planet.

To be fair this isn't the administrators doing so much as the fear mongering press, politicians and blood sucking lawyers, but mostly the "save us, save us" public whining for some government agency to be their hero. Well they got it. They went completely nuts when real tragedy happened (think Columbine) and a stick roughly gun shaped makes people pee themselves. This is the result. The public pooped their pants, those in charged wiped their crack and now they stuff that filthy rag in the face of today's students and parents. This is very much a case of "be careful what you ask for.

One year suspension for bringing a gun replica in school, something like a toy gun.

Those people are out of their friking mind.

Did you see the other incidents? That's a pretty harsh system.

One suspension was for pushing his friend during an argument, and another was for teasing on the school bus.

Those should be detention and a meeting with the parents. Suspending 7 year olds for this kind of matter is pretty silly.

He's being allowed back in class btw, but it should never have come to this.

It's important to not miss school because a child could miss out on important knowledge. Teaching middle schooler's the importance of earning their "red-wings" cannot be understated.

One School’s ‘Horrific’ Sex-Ed Photos Are Outraging Parents

Perhaps the most shocking and inappropriate photo, the pedagogical value of which is unclear, was a picture of a man with a bloody face accompanied by a caption saying, “A real man loves his woman every day of the month.”

Fucking schools now a days are way out of control. If it ain't Common core bull shit, the Liberal eductation system it's zero tolerance crap. If I have kids I'd be inclined to home school. The system is out of fucking control! It's as bad as the government.

I'd like to see greater availability of secular private schools. There isn't a whole lot available around me. I wanted to send my daughter to a Quaker school(They're way more sane than pretty much any other mainstream religion), but the cost was more than I had to spend.

Quakes are awesome. I took a religion test and the first three religions I was most compatible was Liberal Quaker, Judaism and oddly Muslim. LOL Sikhism came in fourth I think.

Moral is, if you accident and no one sees you, you keep your trap shut. Or, ditch your mistake onto someone else to make it look like it was them. It's called covering your ass, it's precious so keep it tight.
