Only two out of those ten games actually interest me: Portal 2 and Skyrim. Not coincidentally, those are the only two I bought.

1. MW3/BF3

Really?

While I'm not a fan of COD or shooters in general, MW3 has its place in the deathmatch shooter arena. (Though I thought Black Ops was better).

On the other hand, for overall shooters, BF3 is probably, bar none, THE best shooter out there.

But then again, you can easily take their list with a grain of salt: It's obvious that they simply don't like the shooter genre over at Escapist. Subjective list is subjective.

Shooter quality continues to degrade while the costs increase...

I was a HUGE BF2/2124 fan and I despise BF3 at several levels. They took away a LOT of content that made the franchise great, all in the name of money.

This just in, lists based on opinions are in fact based on opinions. Do we seriously need to have this discussion?

Regarding BF3/MW3 Yahtzee specifically states that he does not like multiplayer shooters and reviewed both of those games based solely on the single player campaigns. Which is stupid because no one buys those games for the single player. It would be like buying L4D but never playing online and then judging the game to be bad based on having a poor plot and bad voice acting when those are clearly irrelevant concerns for that game.

I've played none of the games in either of the groups of 5. I guess I'm just an average gamer. :p

I probably would have included The Old Republic on the Best Of list. I also really liked Tropico 4, but I realize city builders aren't everyone's cup of tea.

Its not the Escapists opinion, its Yahtzees.
And yur nuts if you think he's a yes man, parroting whatever they want.

You gotta watch his other reviews. The dude is burned out on 1st person shooters, especially gritty war stuff.

I'm surprised Portal 2 is his favorite. He even said it felt like a sorry imitation of the original, not too good at all.

Maybe the guy is bi-polar.

:hmm:

Portal 2 as number 1? I found it pretty meh, the writting/story was great, but the actual game play (puzzles) were not as good as Portal 1's imo. Average Portal 2 puzzle, walk in room, see one spot on a wall far away where a portal can be made, solution becomes nearly instantly obvious.

The real problem is they don't like MULTIPLAYER.

I ll admit I actually got stuck at parts, and had to go on youtube and look at play throughs for area's to solve them.

The worst part is when you see the solution is simple, and your like... why didnt I think of that.

Never understand why people like Portal games. I admit I haven't played any, but jumping around through Portals all the time? Seems a bit silly.

I'm open to answers here if you think I am wrong.

Have to disagree with BF3, it's great online. Although the SP isn't very fun.

I got stuck on several parts too. My 13 year old grandson was much better at the game than I was. I must be "spatially challenged". My only plus was that I had the persistence to finish it while he didnt. I must say though that I thought it got a bit repetitive toward the end.

As far as the list goes, it seems pretty bogus to me, at least as far as the worst games is concerned. Some people may not like MW3, but I dont see how it can be the worst game of the year. And for "worst", how could Dungeon Seige III not be on that list.

Portal is a puzzle game. Once you play it you'll understand.

The most appealing part to me is the humor of Glados. And the puzzles are fun too, but I kind of suck at them. But I dont share the unbrilded enthusiasm of some for the game. It actually seems more suited for an episodic type game like portal I than a full stand alone game. I thought Portal 2 got kind of repetitive towards the end, and Wheatley was funny but really got on my nerves after a while.
