I'd stay away from them... My friend has a new IBM server w/ 6 - 15k 36g scsi drives. They are have one of those zero channels controllers and are getting
45 Mb/s sustained in a raid 5 configuration..

They have a 8 drive sata system w/ a LSI logic raid controller and are getting 180Mb/s w/ some WD raid ed sata drives.

It's a piece of hardware you plug into the MB that turns the on-board SCSI controller into a SCSI RAID controller. No connectors on the card itself.

They should change the name Zero Channel to Zero Performance Raid controller...

If you want a good controller than look at the LSI 320-2X scsi controller..

Yep sucks.

wtf is zero channel?

Fvcking zero channel is where you have a system with ZCR capabilities embedded within the integrated HBA controller. Adding a ZCR card to the system turns the built in SCSI ports into hardware raid of sorts but this feature is not really a good solution compared to a proper one. It's popular for tiny (1U) rackmount servers where you have limited room.

Do not use Zero Channel RAID!

I cannot begin to describe how many problems we have had with the Intel motherboards & Intel ZCR cards. We have a huge pile of them to go back to Intel at some point.
