Also Lunar Lake but yeah.

Worse bit about the massive AIE is that in order to make room for it, AMD chopped off the original plan of slapping on a SLC. Something that would have been incredible for both CPU and iGPU performance. But yaaaaaaaaaaaay AI bubble.

I hate MS sometimes (actually almost always).
Oh, snap! Now I get it why you were saying "F MS" some weeks earlier.

So we missed an SLC in exchange for massive bloat of the NPU. FFS I hate this while AI PC thing.

You wont find a single benchmark that was "updated" and then favoured AMD, in all cases it gave Intel a better "IPC" than in the previous version comparatively to AMD, it started with CPU Z wich was urgently and hugely "updated" because Zen 1 was trouncing SKL to Cinebench R20/R23 that increased Intel "IPC" by 5-6% compared to CB R15 and more recently Geekbench, i wont talk of Uselessbenchmark when Zen 4 was released, this one use a simple look up table for the scores.
Begins ?
Remember Sysmark ?

That's a bummer.

And AMD will still get nothing from Microsoft Surface, even if the NPU > Intel's.

I wonder if we will ever see a use for NPU that justifies the silicon, that could not have been adequately performed by CPU + GPU

well yeah but MS doesn't want to miss another online advertising or smartphone Next Big Thing.
Desperation is at play.
You could say something similar for a BUNCH of tech companies today with all the buzz around AI. No one has a solid game plan to generate revenue from AI yet everyone is convinced they have to invest because the FOMO is too strong and the shareholders would butcher them if they missed the bandwagon or gravy train.

Oh yes it's a bubble indeed.
Revenue is part of the problem, profitability is real bad on something with opex/capex this horrific.
Good for my MI300/400/whatever stonks and not much else.

I can't wait for when the bubble deflates a little to see a bunch of CEOs magically all pivot back to self-driving cars or metaverse whatever was the previous trend. /s

To be honest, MLID is just example of how Journalism in todays world works.

I do not need to point the finger, everybody understands what this means.

EOT. Lets get back to Zen 5 discussion.
I work as a tech journalist (of little importance). If you want to point fingers at specific sites that suck/are demonstrably faking sources or information, name them, but don't throw stereotypical judgments about whole groups of people, please.

There are honest people that work in this area. Most of our problems stem from us 1) not being exactly well paid (not sure this is true for places like Tom's Hardware or AT, and big splash youtubers may be entirely different thing), 2) usually having extremely limited time for every piece of news or review we make.
You have no way of knowing if your slander even covers 10-25 %, much less 50+ % of people working in "Journalism". You are doing no better than conspiracy theory (a.k.a. hoax) peddlers.

(Edit: sorry for coming in with a sudden outburst, but this a part of a bigger problem. Journalists and media are the thing that can and does expose corruption of politicians or the lies of disinformation spreaders. Thus, politicians preemptively started to slander media and paint them as the source of evil, same for the disinformation spreaders. Many people accepted this lie and now believe the liars' lie that it is not the liars, but actual lie-exposers that arey the problem. People are getting played against their own interests hard by this and it is a huge problem.
I work for a small *tech* website not in the iportant branches of journalism, yet I have been repeatedly insulted as "presstitute" and stuff like that by people that got infected by this way of thinking. Please don't add to this issue, it could become one of the worse challenges our societies face.)

You forget one thing.

Political journalism is part of the problem which Twitter Files exposed. 25 years ago, people who researched the topic of New Your Times PROVEN that at least 7 journalists who worked for NYT - they were CIA agents, that were ACTIVE. Spreading propaganda, and misinformation.

Thats excactly how journalism works, and how it is used. YOU may not be on this side. But be 100% sure that there are people on the "other" side of the "Honesty" Coin.

Yessir but self-crashing memes crashed, see all the meme ADAS adoption graphs from ca2016.
The next pivot idk gonna be what.
The next pivot is probably whatever Jensen is peddling tbh. He seems to have a knack for being at the right place at the right time, in no part due to him selling the idea to others.

Thanks. Am I missing something, or does Zen5 still have a 4-way decoder?

From the description it appears that Zen 5 has the same decoder configuration as Zen 4. Am I reading it wrong?
