I dunno, two x16 Gen4 slots makes more sense to me, with current GPU market. That may change...

And if they were all two by x16 Gen5, where would the market for their higher-end chipset be?

Well, unless something odd comes out about the cooling required, I am getting this. Good for 265 watts.

I just ordered a 1300 watt titanium PSU so I can put 2 3090TIs on it. And I have the memory...

Sept 27th can't come soon enough !!
My brother stuck one of those coolers on a stock 5950x inside a lan cool mesh case. It was avg about 80c with peaks at 90c in P95 w/ avx enabled. Not the worlds most realistic test but still a bit hot. I have one too. It works great on my little 5700g living room PC running stock. I'm guessing you'll need more cooler for a 7950x though.

I think his problem was the case."lan cool mesh" sounds small. Do you have a link to the case ?

I've used the D15S for all my builds in like 10 years now, not that I pay all that much attention to heat, but I at least successfully overclocked all the CPU's in that period, except my current 5900X because I can't be bothered anymore.

I'm going to migrate a 5950x to the peerless and put the new 7950x under my Arctic 420 aio. Hopefully it can keep up with the heat density of the 7950x. I might look into a higher airflow case also. Going to be a lot of heat.

The Arctic 420 is on sale now on the Amazon.

FYI I have a 280mm AIO that works wonders with Zen 3. Even with limits cranked to 170-200w PPT I barely touch 80C in prime95. It outperforms the 360mm AIOs I have used prior.

I have an older NZXT, but any quality 280mm should be able to keep Zen 4 cool.

I really wanna see a AM5 air cooler round-up after Ryzen 7000/AM5 hits the shelves. I suspect some will have behave quite differently than on AM4 or other sockets.

If nothing impresses, then I may finally go AIO. But then again I may only get a 7700X (just so it's easier to justify upgrading to Zen5 in ~2 years lol) and call it a day. Been eyeing Scythe FUMA 2 for awhile now.

If i may make a suggestion, and since there's cooler compatibility between AM4 and AM5, why not try one of your existing coolers (supposing you have @ least an extra one) and see how that one fares.

Then, and depending on the results, opt for a similar capability cooler or a stronger one: you should then be better informed of the cooling requirements, so choosing a cooler @ that time should be easier, no?

I am looking at 420mm AIO to tackle the issue. Trying to decide between Arctic Liquid Freezer II 420 and AlphaCool Eisbaer Aurora 420. Arctic one has thicker radiator (38mm) vs 30mm on Aurora and longer hoses (45cm vs 36cm), Aurora has full-copper rad and ability to refill the coolant. Price is both about the same, around 200 EUROs.

BTW, would you rather install the radiator upfront as intake, or up-top as exhaust? The case will most likely be full-tower, Fractal Design 7 XL, and i intend to have 2 GPUs (and probably will care about their temps and performance moreso than CPU).

Mounting and dismountingis a pain, otherwise I would do that. But that 420 artic is a monster, and the best AIO out there. I am going for the best of everything on this build, so I now have:

6600 cl34 DDR5 32 gig
Arctic freezer II 420
1300 watt platinum EVGA PSU.
3090TI, the fastest one EVGA makes. (PSU is so I can add another one if I want, but SLI, just computing)

Edit: I actually have a full blown double 420 radiator custom loop. But its such a pain to use, not going there. I had a 2990WX OC'ed to a constant 3.8 GHZ, all core all the time, but it took 500 watts, and the case took up the whole living room.

I can understand that.

Still, it would be good to know if "a good cooler" or a "really good cooler" is required for such a build, and you'd only need to do it once, presumably.

Looking at post 173, I am confident that I made the right choice. Maybe someone will buy my setup.
