Gamespot review linky.

Here is the first review from what I see as the 'major players' in the review biz. That I know of anyways. They gave a 9.3, although I was quite dissapointed not to see atleast a 4 page review, as they commonly do on big releases. It weighs in at a mere 2 pages, but a good read nonetheless.

It's already paid for, but when I go get it next week, I'm not sure I'll be able to bide time away from Raven Shield to play it.

It's a Miyamoto game - anything he touches is magic. A lot of people don't like the graphics but the gameplay is what counts, and his games always deliver. Makes me wish I still had my Gamecube

It should be said that screenshots don't do it justice, just look at any review, even this one when he says it "looks absolutely amazing."

Not one review I've read has said anything but good about the graphics, most the time using "breahtaking" or "amazing"

I've seen this game in action in person, and the graphics really are very good. The problem is that they are not zelda graphics. They make the game look totally different and not zelda-like. This is why I don't like the graphics.

I think that could be said about OoT and Majora's Mask, but I think this goes back to the look of previous Zelda games, just now in the 3D realm. Before the N64 incarnations I don't think anyone could say they were going for extreme realism. Just my opinion.

I dunno if I'd call it lacking in detail, all the reviews I've read have raved about how detailed the characters and the setting are.

GameSpot: "What seems like a relatively simple look on the surface is revealed to be quite complex pretty early on, as the game begins to show off some of its facial animation techniques. The game's characters are extremely expressive in their motion and appearance, and this adds emotional weight to the game's text-based story line. There are lots of great little touches to the game's look. The game's focus on wind translates into grass that blows naturally, sails that fill with wind when you've pointed them in the right direction, and swirling gusts of wind that clue you in to the wind's direction and force--something that actually factors into the gameplay on more than one occasion. Artistically, The Wind Waker is nearly unmatched, on the GameCube or on any other platform. "

I thought the exact same thing when I saw the screenshots... But then I saw the game in action, and realized the graphics are AMAZING! I was in awe.

But alas, I've never gotten into Zelda. I may give this one another shot, though. :)

I was one of those that saw the first cel-shaded vid and just about puked, and I still haven't warmed up to it yet. Can't say I'm a fan of the freaking 2-yr old toddler-looking link either. But if the good reviews keep piling in I may just give it a shot anyway.
