Zebo does my board have PCI and SATA locks?

Thanks for your help guys.

Zebo you have anything to add to this? I was hoping I could also get a reply from you too just for keepsakes.

I did find a post that was back on 1/27/05 from tarv. He has the same board I will have and he said he put SATA on channel 4 (plugged into port4?) to make sure its locked. He also was able to lock his pci at 33.3mhz in the bios. So I guess we are good. 🙂

Yea I believe we can use SATA 3 or 4, 1 and 2 are unlocked however I am not 100% on this. Hopefully soon we can get some verification.

I guess I can always "attempt" to call Asus and ask a tech there if he knows which SATA ports are locked. Of course I will most likely get the usual "we don't support overclocking in the bios..in fact we highly recommend not doing it...you will void your warranty....", blah blah.

Personally I've overclocked a SATA port that wasn't locked WAY past the breaking point without realising it and it didn't ruin any data, just refused to boot Windows. Rebooting and with reasonable speeds worked fine. I think with NTFS you don't have to worry as much about corrupting files as you would with FAT32.

Both the PCI and PCI-E busses are locked on the Asus by setting HTT to 201mhz or higher in bios.

Thats one of the little tricks to this board. There are settings in the Jumperfree section of bios to set the busses at 33mhz and 100mhz respectively. But they don't work if you boot up at stock settings and use a windows utility to overclock. Just always boot with an HTT of 201 or higher and everything is fine, and all 8 of the sata ports are locked on this board so don't worry about which ports to use
