It's a sequel to Jumanji.... Tends to make sense it would be somewhat similar wouldn't it?

Zathura is based on the best-selling book by the acclaimed children's writer Chris Van Allsburg (The Polar Express, Jumanji). The film stars Oscar winner Tim Robbins, Josh Hutcherson, Jonah Bobo, and Dax Shepard. The film is directed by Jon Favreau (Elf) and produced by Bill Teitler and Michael DeLuca.

Its not really a sequal if it has nothing to do with the first one except have the same plot.

You also need to check out all those starwars/harry potter ripoffs. Make you mad, don't they?

I read an interview with Jon Favreau about this. He stated that Chris Van Allsburg (the author of both Jumanji and Zathura) said it actually takes place in the Jumanji universe, whatever that means.

The premise seems to basically be the same

although unlike Jumanji this seems to be two random kids in space...rather than things happening on earth

Though on a side note, a lot of what Hollywood pumps out is stupid random BS and rehashes. There are good movies here and there, but a lot of it is horrible

Give the man a prize for actually researching the movie instead of pulling comments out of his arse.

I like how they can survive in space without oxygen.

I mean, at least make it believable when you distort reality enough for something like that to happen.

I was going to post this exact topic but I searched first. This is rediculous. Same exact movie as Jumanji.

I just saw this tonight. I had a free pass to see a preview of it, so I decided to give it a shot. I went in with low expectations and was surprised. It was ok. Its very similar to Jumanji. It is a childrens movie, but I did see several parents leave with their children during various parts of the movie. I even overheard one kid almost crying say he wanted to leave because the movie wasn't funny anymore.

Also this was the first movie I have been to where I was scanned for a cell phone, etc... They actually used a wand and scanned people before they entered. People with bags had to open them up before they could enter (A police officer was there asking people to open them so he could look in them.). Several people had to leave because of cell phones, they had to take them to their cars or just not come in.
