I was looking at this review over at ars:

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/...hat-literally-shocks-your-brain-to-attention/

Would anybody here buy something like this, where it sends electricity through your brain?

I was looking around at tDCS studies and it appears that it actually works. Some people have claimed to have made their own using parts from radioshack. Has anybody here experimented with tDCS, and if so, what was it like?

Hmmm. I'd have to read more on this tDCS thing but I'd consider trying it.

I wonder how long it takes to notice a "significant," or worthwhile, increase in performance of whatever-it-is you're interested in; that article mentions the army doing studies for several years.

I've been digging around online; apparently you can make your own version for pretty cheap using a 9v battery, some electrodes, and a multimeter to test the output (along with saline solution for where the pads touch your skin).

Looks like I'll be hitting radioshack tonight. :)

there was a thing on nova about a device like this that the military used for training people more quickly in using drones (how to make out a legit target). it got their training down from months to 2 weeks iirc. one side of your brain gets hit by negative ions, the other positive or some such.

significant boost in learning. i'd give it a shot if i could take a seat in that device

meh I'm not going to build a ghetto version of that, I'm okay with my natural powers.

So if I hook up 12V across my fuel injection system, would the positive and negative ions improve the performance?

Wow, this has possibilities.

Where is Adlep?

A brilliant attempt to weed out and eliminate the mentally "weaker" part of the population.

Just brilliant ...
