Donair Heater again? Booooooooooooooooooring! Half the tech sites on the net are quoting the same unverified and unverifiable dog doo! Just because it's picked up by sites that should know better does not make it any more real.

Trust, but verify!

AMD's been pretty leak free ever since the Radeon 5000 series launch took the wind out of NVIDIA. Not only is there a lack of trustworthy info just regarding BD final specs but we don't even have a good leak on the Radeon 7000 series except to know they probably had real 28nm Radeon silicon since early this year.

Sites so desperate for any hints they are grabbing whatever random rumors happen to be floating about.

Honestly, we should form like a massive nerd gather-up, like from all the large tech websites, and petition, nay, THREATEN AMD that if they don't release some worth wile info on the FXs within a week, we're boycotting them. The geek thunderdome demands leaked benchmarks NOW!

(No, I am not being "sarcastic".)

AMD seems to feel that is has a valuable skill now in it's secrecy and it's ability to keep a tight lid on any real info. The info coming out now could be "informed suggestions" that are half truths, being fed specifically to keep people lured, but also confuse.

Either the secrecy is because Bulldozer is a slouch, or it's such a magnifcent achivement that if everyone knew what was coming, Intel would probably open the flood gates and do what it could to counter the launch.

I am pretty confident that it is the latter.. And right now, all this secrecy is because AMD knows what they have, or knows what their respin will be, and they do not want to let Intel have a chance to counter it before there is chips available.

Or they just took a page out of the apple marketing cook book that at least is quite useful for those guys and decided that NOT leaking all the interesting information months before release will sparkle enough interest anyhow (as this thread or the 100 something thread in the same forum nicely show) and leaves all the interesting, useful information for the launch.

At least a possibility I'd think ;)

It would be amazing if your prediction is accurate Jionix. For them to have a CPU who's performance makes it worthwhile to stockpile 2-3 months of production for the launch, would drive Intel fanatics into a rage filled internet stampede.

You might have a point...Except that we have been enjoying our OCed SBs for since Jan 2011 while any definite BD release date is still nowhere to be seen.

As much as I am itching to jump onto to the SB platform, I'm waiting for BD just in case. The last thing I want is regretting my purchase just because I wasn't patient.

That's a good point, but I would say "enjoying since January" is pretty strong wording if you consider the P67 recall. Granted, the fact that AMD wasn't able to take advantage of one of Intel's biggest mishaps in recent memory might be telling as well.

I think it's going to be average, probably 10% slower than a 2500k at stock, and they're trying to delay people from running out and buying Intel now and overclocking to 4.4ghz and not needing an upgrade for another 4 years.

8 cores, does this mean 8 threads or 16 threads?
So 4 cores would be only 2 modules?

8 cores 8 threads.
4 cores 2 modules - 4 integer cores, 4 128bit FPU that can be combined for 2 256bit FPU or 2 256bits FPU that can be split into 4 128bits FPU, whichever you prefer.

Or perhaps they don't want the Osborne Effect to take place.

If AMD is faster, all Intel needs to do is lower pricing on their 2600k to $225 and release higher clocked SB chips. SB has no problems clocking to 4.2-4.3ghz on stock voltage. Faster clocked SB chips could follow "P4 era" style if Intel wanted to.

With 60% profit margins, Intel employees are probably taking 2-3 weeks vacation in August, without taking their BlackBerries with them :D. The longer BD is delayed, the closer it gets to having to compete with Ivy Bridge (low-end and mid-range) and SB-E (high-end). If Bulldozer was such a formidable processor, then why has it gotten delayed so many times? The most reasonable assumption is that AMD wasn't able to clock it high enough to be competitive; and they keep trying to get new steppings out to get those clocks to respectable levels required to be competitive.

You might have a point...Except that we have been enjoying our OCed SBs for since Jan 2011 while any definite BD release date is still nowhere to be seen.

Exactly. And if it gets delayed into October/November, should people still continue to wait....and wait and wait..? BD is probably exciting for current Phenom II / Athlon II X4 owners who can do a drop-in CPU upgrade. But for everyone else, what's the point of waiting another 3-4+ months? I don't understand the logic in that.

Maybe because they can wait?

AMD has been executing very well on the graphics side of things, I expect them to right the ship with BD.

I'm expecting performance at least matching Sandy Bridge.
