Conclusion
The VF900 is a great replacement for the stock cooler that was on our test 6800GT. And the thing is the stock cooler was a beast itself. It is evident the stock cooler is clearly much larger and much louder. And the VF900 still came out on top. The VF900 offered us great performance at a good level of noise. The ability to control the fan speed with the FanMate is a good ideal. Low fan speed make the VF900 suitable for quiet environments, like a HTPC. And for the people that plan on doing some mild overclocking, the FanMate turned up provided enough cooling to accomplish that also.
The light weight of the VF900 give us another reason to recommend this cooler to anyone. A lot of companies are providing us with some good cooling solutions, but at the cost of weight. Just like ths CPU socket, the AGP and PCI-e slot also have recommended weight limitations. And the VF900 would not exceed that. The slimness of the VF900 makes it an ideal partner in SLI and Crossfire setups. If you have atleast one slot between the two PCI-e slots, the VF900 will easily fit withour interfering with the bottom card.
So, I am proud to award the Zalman VF900, the Editor?s Choice award.
